Ode Winery · At the Heart of AMAIA Valley

Minimal intervention. Maximum attention.

A working winery since 1902. Premium wines, globally awarded, from a 96-hectare valley in Ribatejo, Portugal.

Ode Winery's restored 1902 building.
The Winery

Where the past meets the present in every bottle.

First built in 1902, the building holds historical significance for the region. Ode Winery commenced operations in December 2021, infusing new vitality into its historic structure. With a commitment to crafting minimal intervention wines, the winery seamlessly blends a rich heritage with a forward-thinking approach to winemaking.

The architectural marvel of the building unfolds, surprising visitors who may never anticipate the hidden treasures behind its unassuming façade. Despite its capacity for producing one million bottles annually, Ode Winery has chosen to prioritise meticulous attention to detail — ensuring the production of premium wines that embody excellence.

Maria Vicente, winemaker at Ode Winery, working in the on-site laboratory.
The Winemaker

Maria Vicente.

An Alentejo native with over twenty vintages under her belt, Maria is a skilled winemaker with extensive oenological experience and a profound understanding of the region and its most suitable grape varieties — responsible for the magic at Ode Winery.

Her passion doesn't stop there: she is a certified educator of Madeira and Port wines, a WSET Teacher, and an accomplished wine judge at both regional and international competitions.

When not graciously imparting her wine knowledge, Maria enjoys spending time in the lagares, whether full of grapes or not, and is known to spill the occasional glass of wine.

The Vineyards

Limestone soils. Twelve varieties. One philosophy.

Throughout the expansive 96 hectares, the vineyards serve as the source for our exceptional wines and a serene escape from urban life for our visitors.

Adhering to organic, sustainable, and regenerative principles, we prioritise the health of our soils, maintain positive organic matter, and cultivate a disease-free environment.

The rich limestone soil allows for the cultivation of a wide range of grape varieties — local Arinto, Fernão Pires, Alvarinho, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca and international Semillon, Viognier, Pinot Gris, Alicante Bouschet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.

The Wines

A portfolio of premium wines from Tejo.

From entry-level single-varietals to limited Enóloga reserves, each wine is the result of the maximum attention our winemaker pays to every barrel.
